The most beautiful beaches of Taormina and surroundings

Thanks to the crystal clear sea, the long golden expanses of sand and the rich historical and cultural heritage, Taormina is a popular destination for summer holidays by Italian tourists, but also foreigners. The ancient village, which stands on Mount Tauro, is embellished not only by the beautiful coastline overlooking the sea that offers breathtaking views, but also by the variety of coasts surrounded by the Mediterranean. From the small secluded coves to the larger and more equipped bathing beaches, let’s discover together the most beautiful beaches of Taormina and its surroundings.

The most famous is certainly Isola Bella, also called “Pearl of the Mediterranean”. Declared a nature reserve in 1998, it’s a small island a few meters from the shore and connected to it by a thin isthmus rising from the clear waters. This strip of natural sand disappears completely when there is high tide. In this point the water is so clear that it is suitable for activities such as snorkeling and diving.

Located in an enchanting bay between Capo Sant’Andrea and Capo Mazzarò where nature dominates the landscape and the sea is emerald-colored, here there are marine ravines and caves to explore with fins and masks; the famous Blue Grotto is unmissable because of a unique show given by the color of water that is reflected on all the walls of the cave.

A few kilometers from Taormina and in the direction of Messina, there is the town of Sant’Alessio Siculo; here the famous Castle of Sant’Alessio stands, which rises above a promontory and dominates the beautiful beach characterized by a coastline of clear soft sand. Below the castle there is a small bay to explore because it offers beautiful glimpses and real corners of real earthly paradise.
